After months of comments and requests from the public, Transport Minister Chris Bonett has confirmed that Id-Daħla ta’ San Tumas, the road connecting Żejtun and Wied Il-Għajn, will be extended into a two-lane road in the coming months.
In a video update, Bonett said the two homes currently creating a bottleneck at the site will be rearranged to make way for the widening works, allowing the road to finally be built with two lanes.
Works are set to start from next Wednesday, with the project expected to be completed within between one and a half to two months.
Bonett wrapped up his message by saying that “this is because we hear what you ask for, and whenever we do, stuff is done for the comfort of all”.
The announcement comes after long-standing complaints from motorists about congestion in the area, with the upgrade expected to ease traffic flow once completed.
