Reports circulating in international media this week have alleged that some male ski jumpers may have used hyaluronic acid injections to manipulate body measurements and potentially gain an aerodynamic advantage.

The claims, first reported by a German publication, suggest that temporary enlargement could theoretically affect the fit of tightly regulated ski jump suits, which are designed according to strict body measurements. Even small variations in suit surface area can influence lift and flight distance in the sport.

However, there is currently no evidence that any athlete has carried out such a procedure for competitive gain.

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has rejected the allegations, describing them as “wild rumours” and confirming that no cases have been identified.

Similarly, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has stated that it is aware of the reports but has not received any formal evidence. The agency indicated it would assess any credible information should it emerge.

Ski jumping is one of the most technically regulated disciplines at the Winter Games. Athletes undergo detailed body scans, and suit dimensions are calculated according to strict formulas linking height, weight and body proportions.

Over the past few years, the sport has faced scrutiny over suit compliance, leading to tighter inspections and enforcement. Against that backdrop, the recent rumours have gained traction online despite the lack of substantiation.

Hyaluronic acid is widely used in cosmetic procedures as a dermal filler. While penile augmentation using fillers does exist in medical settings, it carries risks and is not a recognised performance-enhancing method in sport.

At present, officials stress that the claims remain speculative and unproven.
