A woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital earlier this morning after construction material fell from a tower crane onto her car while she was driving past a construction site in St Julian’s according to Times of Malta.

Sources said the incident occurred on Birkirkara Road between 8.30am and 9am. Police confirmed that the driver, a 50-year-old woman from San Ġwann, was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Lacetti at the time.

An object from a tower crane at the construction site struck her windscreen.

Her condition has not yet been disclosed.

Investigations are ongoing by both the police and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority.
