Liverpool forward Diogo Jota died in a car crash in the Spanish province of Zamora after the Lamborghini he was travelling in suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle and caught fire. His brother, 25-year-old professional footballer Andre Silva, also died in the accident.

Conservative activist Charlie Kirk died after being shot during a campus event at Utah Valley University, where a single round was fired from a nearby building while he was taking questions from students.

James Ransone, the US actor best known for playing Ziggy Sobotka in The Wire, died aged 46, with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office listing his death as suicide.
