With reference to yesterday’s operation, Sunday 8th February, in Misraħ il-Barrieri and Triq is-Soll in Santa Venera, precautionary emergency works continued over the past hours on one of the properties adjacent to the construction site.

All works were carried out by the project developer under the supervision of the project architect and third-party architects, and included, among other things, the shoring up of the building.

Meanwhile, this morning, officials from the BCA identified the properties in the two mentioned streets that may, in some way or another, have suffered damage, so that an assessment of the damage can be carried out and the way forward determined. A new method of works at the construction site will also eventually be determined, since the affected properties are built on fragile foundations.

In the meantime, six families are still being provided with the necessary assistance by the BCA and will remain in alternative accommodation until their properties are declared safe.

Both authorities, as they always do, will remain in continuous contact with all parties and will ensure that the interests and rights of the affected third parties are safeguarded, as well as the health and safety of everyone involved.

The authorities reiterate that they remain proactive in cases such as these in order to prevent incidents, while reminding the public of the importance of using the helpline 138.
