Residents and visitors are invited to take part in a lively celebration of creativity, music and culture on 12th April, as St Anne Street in Floriana is transformed into a bustling cultural centre.

From 10am to 4pm, the street will be closed to traffic, offering a safe and welcoming space for artisans, performers and creatives from across the region.

The programme will include live performances by the local band SKALD, a traditional procession linked to the St Publius feast accompanied by a marching band and a jazz set by the il-Gażin Jazz Quartet. Families can enjoy outdoor art sessions and hands-on musical activities, while those interested in dance can join introductory sessions led by Swing Island Malta.

Combining both traditional and modern artistic expressions, the event is designed to showcase Floriana’s cultural identity, celebrate its architectural character and provide an opportunity to experience the area in a relaxed, pedestrian-friendly setting. Comfortable seating and chill-out areas will also be available throughout the day.

With more than 50 participating artisans, the event – organised by the Port Regional Council in partnership with the Floriana Local Council and the Malta Crafts Foundation – highlights a strong tradition of handmade craftsmanship.

This initiative forms part of “Regional Mosaic,” a year-long cultural programme taking place across the 11 localities within the Port Region: Valletta, Floriana, Birgu, Bormla, Isla, Kalkara, Xgħajra, Żabbar, Tarxien, Paola and Fgura.

In 2026, the Port Region carries the title of Region of Culture. The Regional Mosaic programme aims to reflect this vision by promoting the arts, strengthening community engagement and supporting creative development through local funding, collaboration and artistic direction.

The Port Region of Culture programme is being developed by award-winning community artist Joseph Galea, in collaboration with local councils and Port Regional staff, with support from the Local Government Division and the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government.

The public is encouraged to attend and experience what promises to be a vibrant, day-long celebration of Malta’s artistic spirit, set within the historic surroundings of Floriana’s iconic archways.
