More than 450 athletes turned up for the fourth edition of the Maypole 5K Family Fun Walk & Run in Xgħajra last Sunday, proving that not even rough weather could dampen the community spirit behind the event.

Organised in collaboration with St. Patrick’s Athletic Club, the annual activity aimed to raise funds in aid of Richmond Foundation, bringing together runners, walkers, families and supporters for a good cause.

Despite challenging conditions and persistent bad weather, the event went ahead successfully, with participants showing up in full force to support the initiative.

Several trophies were awarded throughout the day across multiple age categories, including men’s and women’s divisions for participants aged over 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65.

The overall winners of the race were Emmanuel Zammit in the men’s category and Daniela Gatt in the women’s category.

Participants and supporters also helped raise a substantial sum that will go towards supporting the valuable services provided by the Richmond Foundation.
