Floriana’s vice mayor, James Aaron Ellul, has reported widespread damage across the locality as strong winds from the ongoing storm continue to affect the island.
In a social media post, he stated that the storm has uprooted trees and caused damage in several areas, including local monuments.
One of the most notable incidents occurred at the Mall, where a fallen tree struck the monument dedicated to Vincenzo Bugeja. Authorities have already been informed of the situation.
The vice mayor added that the local council is closely monitoring the situation and documenting all damage. Cleanup and maintenance operations will resume once the weather improves and it is safe to do so.
He also emphasised that the images circulating from Floriana demonstrate the real danger posed by the severe winds, urging residents to remain indoors wherever possible until conditions calm.
