A section of Ħal Far Road in Birżebbuġa has been closed following a collision involving a ready-mix truck and a trailer this afternoon.
A section of Ħal Far Road in Birżebbuġa has been closed following a collision involving a cement tanker truck and another truck this afternoon.
The incident happened at around 1.30pm while the two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions along Ħal Far Road.
Emergency crews, including a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital, members of the Civil Protection Department, police officers and Transport Malta officials, were dispatched to the scene.
The driver of the cement tanker, a 49-year-old man from Ħal Qormi, was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. His condition is not yet known.
The driver of the other truck, a 44-year-old man residing in Msida, was not taken to hospital.
Transport Malta has confirmed that Ħal Far Road remains closed between the Schembri Bros plant and Triq Għar Ħassan.
Motorists travelling towards Ħal Luqa or Birżebbuġa are being diverted through the Ħal Far Industrial Estate and are urged to follow traffic signs in the area.
Investigations into the collision are ongoing.
