A Gozitan priest and doctor currently on mission in Peru has issued a heartfelt appeal for urgent donations to help keep a hospital, a soup kitchen for malnourished children, and a home for abandoned elderly people running.
Fr Raymond Portelli Xuereb, who has been serving some of the poorest communities in Iquitos, Peru, says the facilities are now in desperate need of financial support to continue operating.
βAny help you can give us to continue serving the poorest of the poor in Iquitos, Peru, is most welcome,β Fr Raymond said. βPlease give us a hand to keep our hospital running, the soup kitchen for malnourished children, and our home for abandoned old people.β
Fr Raymond, who is currently in Gozo until 26th February, is personally collecting funds to support the humanitarian mission, which provides essential medical care, daily meals for vulnerable children, and shelter for elderly people who have been abandoned and left with no support system.
Those wishing to donate can do so through the following methods:
- Revolut: 79359768
- Bank of Valletta (BOV) account: 124 1717 3013
- BOV Pay: 79359768
- Cheque: Payable to Raymond Portelli,
7A Grunju Street,
Nadur, Gozo, Malta
Fr Raymond also encouraged anyone who would like more information or who wishes to speak to him directly to get in touch while he is in Malta.
βIf you want to contact me, I am in Gozo up till the 26th February. You can call me on 79359768,β he said. βGod bless you all. We really need your help.β
The Gozitan priest and doctor has spent years working in Peru, dedicating his life to caring for the sick, feeding hungry children, and giving dignity and shelter to elderly people who would otherwise be left alone.
Anyone who can contribute, even a small amount, is being urged to do so, as every donation will go directly towards keeping these vital services alive for some of the worldβs most vulnerable people.
