L-Istrina has already raised €1 million in just two hours since kicking off earlier today, marking a powerful start to Malta’s largest annual fundraising marathon.
Now in its 30th edition, the televised event in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund is being held at the Kirkop Sports Complex and is broadcasting live across multiple channels.
This year’s edition was officially opened by President Myriam Spiteri Debono, alongside Prime Minister Robert Abela, Opposition Leader Alex Borg, and Archbishop Charles Scicluna.
The 12-hour telethon, which runs until midnight, raises funds to support patients and families battling serious illnesses, including those who require treatment abroad.
L-Istrina is being broadcast live from 12pm on TVM, NET, ONE, F Living, Xejk TV and UTV Malta.
The generosity shown in the opening hours has already set the tone for another remarkable year of giving.
